Data is the new oil and the source is… You.

The Datarush transmedia storyworld was conceived by Benjamin Coelle and Anne Drees for Indi Film Berlin, as a means of building an engaging interactive experience around the Arte documentary feature ‘Democracy’ by by David Bernet.

We came on board early in the development process, running workshops and rapid prototyping to blaze through various iterations until we got to the i-doc (interactive documentary or web doc) format – A bold graphic language and simple scrolling storytelling used to explore the complex issues surrounding data privacy.

Follow the black square – the data bit that becomes the oil slick, the pipeline flowing from your smart home, from your health apps to governments, internet service providers and corporations. Follow It’s flow through your digital rights, your data, security and privacy.

Click here to find out where you stand (as long as you speak French or German)

Now Get Ready To Swim With The Sharks…

Now that you’ve learned where you stand on data privacy it’s time to take action! In the final piece of the Datarush story world it’s now your chance to play the European Parliament at its own game.

An exciting and entertaining, ‘Risk’ like strategy game set in the European Parliament. You take the role of the Negotiator (Rapporteur) using any means at your disposal to convince strategically important parliamentary groups and outwit your opponents.

The clean, bold aesthetic and limited colour palette was carried over from the web doc to create a distinct destination in a unified story world.
